School House Nursery: Staff Details
We have a highly qualified, dedicated and caring staff team who each have different areas of responsibilities within the nursery. We are all first aid and child protection trained and CRB checked.
Deborah Weatherall – Nursery Manager
Responsibilities: Management of Nursery - SENCO - Health and Safety
In 1993 I was awarded BTec National Diploma in Nursery Nursing at Canterbury College. I then continued to study at higher level and in 1996 I obtained a Bachelor of Arts with honours in English and ASS from Christchurch College. I then put all my theory into practice and have worked at School House since June 1996. In 2007 I gained Early Years Professional Status. I am CRB checked, First Aid qualified and I have a food-handling certificate.
Gemma Mercer – Deputy Manager
Responsibilities: Equality and diversity
I obtained BA (Hons) with QTS in 2002 from Canterbury Christ Church University College. I achieved subject specialism in Art and Numeracy. I taught at a school in Broadstairs for 18 months in the Reception Class before I joined School House Nursery in April 2004. I am CRB checked and First Aid qualified.
Ashleigh Edwards – Deputy Manager
Currently on Maternity Leave
I studied at Thanet College for 2 years and obtained a BTec National Diploma in Early Years. I started at School House Nursery in March 2005. I am CRB checked. I have a foundation certificate in Food Hygiene and also Paediatric First Aid and First Aid at Work. Currently doing CCLD level 4 which is near completion.
Jackie Wylde – Deputy Manager - temporary maternity cover
As a mother of three daughters I have personal experience in childcare, having also home educated for several years. As a Sandwich resident I appreciate the community feel and enjoy the friendly atmosphere of working alongside local families.
I have worked in nursery settings for 5 years. I currently have a level 3 in childcare and hope to progress to a foundation stage diploma. Having completed training in many areas within childcare I aim to concentrate on additional needs, senco training and enhancing every child's experience whilst at nursery. As a qualified holistic therapist, I believe the holistic approach to childcare, learning and progression should be based upon a natural, happy environment of equality and integration and aim to provide this in the nursery setting
Liz Wickenden- Nursery Administrator
From graduating in 2000 with a BA (Hons) in Corporate Communication I have since worked as a Personal Assistant in private medical healthcare industry as well as for public body organisations as a senior PA mainly in London until moving to Kent.
Since my move I have worked as PA to the chairman of the University of Kent Sports Department and as PA to the Global CEO/owner of a management consultancy firm in Faversham. I have two children and I have also worked as a childminder previously to starting School House Nursery. I am CRB checked, have undertaken paediatric first aid training, Child safeguarding training and I am a qualified garden designer.
Lissa Hairsine - Nursery Assistant
In 1995 I achieved my NNEB Diploma in nursery nursing at Canterbury College. I started working at School House Nursery in 1995 and worked for 12 years until leaving on maternity leave.
I have spent the last 3 years enjoying being a full time mum I am now looking forward to rejoining the School House Nursery team, and started here in March 2010.
James Bowman – Senior Nursing Assistant
Responsibilities: Keyperson for the Frogs - Behaviour management
I originally achieved the diploma in Childcare and Education before furthering my studies at Canterbury Christ Church University attaining the degree in Early Childhood Studies with Psychology. During this time and since I have worked in various settings before joining the team at School House Nursery in 2006. I am CRB checked.
Christina Scullin - Nursery Assistant
Responsibilities: First Aid - Keyperson for the Frogs
I studied at Thanet College for 1 year and then started work in a nursery in Deal where I worked for 3 years. I started at School House Nursery in April 2008. I have a paediatric first aid at work certificate and I am fully qualified in gymnastics and trampoline coaching. CRB checked.
Lauren Hellings – Nursery Assistant
Currently on Maternity Leave
My career in childcare started straight after leaving school in 2004. I have achieved many qualifications including NVQ 2 in early years education which I studied at Canterbury College. A certificate in higher education (level 4) which I studied at Canterbury Christ Church University, Senco training, child protection, paediatric first aid etc. I have gained lots of experience in various settings, one of which was managing a busy Montessori Nursery.
Robert Giles – Nursery Assistant
Responsibilities: Keyperson for the Tadpoles
Previously I was volunteer vice chairman at School House Nursery before moving into the position of keyperson for the frogs. I am CRB enhanced checked and have NVQ 3 in Early Years Childcare. I have two boys aged 7 and 4 who were pervious School House alumni.
Sally-Ann Walker – Nursery Assistant
Responsibilities: Keyperson for the Frogs
I have a teaching assistants Diploma from Canterbury College and I will soon doing an NVQ 3 in children's care learning and development.. I am CRB enhanced checked..
Both of my children attended School House.
